MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee softball team stole a series finale win over Louisiana Tech on Sunday, March 11. After dropping two yesterday, the Blue Raiders topped the Lady Techsters 4-1. Sophomore Lexi Cushing hit in all four runs in the game on her sixth double and sixth home run of the season.

With the win, MT is now 17-8, 1-2 on the year while LA Tech moves to 12-13, 2-1.

Amber Baldwin showed great strength in the circle again for the Blue Raiders. She allowed just four hits in the seven innings while striking out three.

Louisiana Tech looked to come out of the gates swinging as Morgan Turkoly had a solo home run in the top of the first. However that would be the only run the Lady Techsters would come up with. MT also held Tech on the base paths, not allowing a runner to reach third base the remainder of the game.

The Blue Raiders also held Tech hitless in four of the seven innings of action. The three other hits were also all only singles.

On the opposite side, the Blue Raider offensive was explosive. Of MT's 10 hits, five were four extra bases.

The biggest hit of the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning and like in game one, Cushing hit a monstrous home run. This one was a two-run shot that scored Morgan Harris as it sailed over the trees in dead centerfield to put the Blue Raiders ahead 2-1.

Middle added two more runs thanks to the bat of Cushing in the bottom of the fifth. With Summer Burgess and Jocelynn De La Cruz aboard on a walk and an infield single, Cushing sent a pitch to deep left center field. Both Burgess and De La Cruz came around to score on what turned out to be Cushing's sixth double of the year and MT's fourth of the day.

Keely McGee hit a double in the sixth inning of play to give MT five in the game. Precious Birdsong, Claire Smith and Kirstyn Cuccia had the other doubles in the 4-1 win.
