Abdullah-Muhammad Inks Third Place Finish in Heptathlon

HOUSTON, Texas – Qetuwrah Abdullah-Muhammad rounds off the heptathlon events during the second day of the Conference USA Track and Field Championships, recording a third place finish.
Abdullah-Muhammad inked a career-best 5,198 points in the seven event series while clinching the title in the long jump with a distance of 6.21-meters.
Meanwhile, Amos Cheruiyot was the first Blue Raiders to hit the track in an individual event this weekend, competing in the men's 10,000-meter event. Cheruiyot inked a 10th place finish in the 10,000-meter final with a time of 33:29.92.
On the women's side, Julia Jelagat, Gladys Kipchumba and Pamela Kosgei also competed in the 10,000-meter run. Kosgei inked a fourth place finish with a time of 37:08.06 while Jelagat finished in fifth (37:09.50) and Kipchumba finished in 13th place (41:04.37).
Tomorrow the C-USA Track and Field Championships will continue as the field events will commence at 3:00 p.m. while the running preliminary events will start at 5:30p.m.
