Four Blue Raiders Claim Gold at Final Day of C-USA Championships

HOUSTON, Texas – Four Blue Raiders claimed top-finishes during the final day of the C-USA Championships in their respective events.
Abike Egbeniyi inked the championship title in the women's 800-meter event. Egbeniyi crossed the line at 2:04.91 to record a new Conference USA Championship record in the event.
Simiarly, Edidiong Odiong notched a gold medal finish in the women's 200-meter event with a time of 23.14. Meanwhile, Pamela Kosgei claimed the first place finish in the 5,000-meter event crossing the line at 17:08.00.
On the field, Isaac Odugbesan claimed the C-USA Champion title in the men's shot put event recording a distance of 18.57-meters.
Likewise, the women's 4x100 relay of Mirlege Castor, Loveth Odia, Cecilia Francis and Edidiong Odiong claimed the title after recording a time of 44.80. Similarly, the women's 4x400 relay team (Castor, Assafuah, Odiong, Egbeniyi) clinched the title running the relay in 3:37.22.
Meanwhile, Joycelyn Assafuah inked a second place finish in the women's 400-meter finals crossing the line at 53.16. Similarly, Cecilia Francis claimed the silver medal in the 100-meter dash, posting a tome of 11.58.
Overall, the women claimed the second place title at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships while the men finished in seventh place.
