Spent four years at Top 25 program Houston
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Head Women's Golf Coach Chris Adams announced Thursday the addition of graduate transfer Kailey Collier to the 2018-19 roster.
Collier joins the Blue Raiders after spending four years at the University of Houston, who currently boasts a Top 25 national ranking according to both Golfstat and Golfweek. She will have one season to play for the Blue Raiders after competing primarily as an individual in a deep Houston Cougar lineup but will provide invaluable experience and work ethic.
"We're very excited to get a grad transfer of her talent level with great experience in practice, qualifying and competition at a Top 25 program," Adams said. "She'll help give us the depth we've needed the last couple of years and add great leadership alongside returning seniors Jenna Burris and Hanley Long."
The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native is a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic selection and will enroll in graduate school at Middle Tennessee in the fall.
"Kailey is just about as well-rounded as it gets," Houston Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "In golf we don't have gym rats, I guess you would say we have range rats and that's exactly what she is. She's always asking questions and finding out ways she can get better at the game. She succeeds at everything she and checks all the boxes as a student-athlete and teammate. Middle Tennessee will be proud to have her in blue."
Collier joins a pair of incoming freshmen in Catherine Caudill and Madison Smith to complete the current signing class.
The trio of newcomers combined with returners Hanley Long, Jenna Burris, Caroline Caudill, Sophie Burks and Savannah Quick will provide plenty of depth and competition for the Blue Raiders to chase a third Conference USA title in 2019.
"The culture at Middle Tennessee is exactly what I was looking for when I decided to transfer," Collier said. "I am so excited for the opportunity that Coach Adams has given me. I think we are going to have a great year and I'm very happy to be a Blue Raider."
