Soccer Bests Martin Methodist in Preseason Finale

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raider soccer team wrapped up its preseason slate on Friday night, taking down Martin Methodist 2-1 in Pulaski, Tenn.
Sophomore and recent C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest scored both goals for Middle Tennessee. Freshman Hannah Tillett tallied the two assists.
The two sides completed penalty kicks at the end of regulation, for extra practice with MT coming out on top, 5-3.
"Both (preseason) games gave us opportunities to assess the strengths and weaknesses of our squad," said Head Coach Aston Rhoden. "It also allowed us to start identifying potential groupings on the field. We still have a lot of work ahead of us in order to be ready for the season and home opener next weekend."
With the preseason now complete, the Blue Raiders turn their focus to next Friday's season opener at Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders and Govs are set to start at 7 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
Then, on Sunday, Aug. 19, Middle Tennessee will host Belmont in its home opener at 6 p.m. following Fan Day.
