MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee returns home on Thursday to play host to UTSA following a challenging road trip last weekend to Southern Miss and LA Tech.
Despite a career-high 28 points on Thursday and a career-high seven assists on Saturday from Donovan Sims, the Blue Raiders continue to look for their first league win when they host the first place Roadrunners but are showing improvements in every game.
Throughout the season, Reggie Scurry has maintained a solid presence on the floor for the Blue Raiders. The junior has scored in double figures in 11 games this season and averages the team's second most rebounds at 5.7 per outing.
Scurry has raised the bar to start conference play, averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and shooting just shy of 65 percent from the field through the first two weekends of conference play.
UTSA is out to a 4-0 start to C-USA play with their best conference start in 30 years coming thanks in large part to some big games from their high-scoring guard duo of Jhivvan Jackson (20.5) and Keaton Wallace (17.8).
Jackson returns from a stellar freshman campaign to lead the Roadrunners again. The 2018 C-USA Freshman of the Year set the single-season freshman scoring record a year ago and currently ranks as the conference's second leading scorer.
Limiting Jackson's scoring opportunities will certainly be a key to the game for the Blue Raiders, but what makes UTSA even more dangerous is their number two option, Wallace, who is the conference's eighth leading scorer. MT will need to keep tabs on both to find success against UTSA.
The Blue Raiders and Roadrunners are set to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. in the Murphy Center and fans can watch the game live on ESPN+.
