MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Head Women's Basketball Coach Rick Insell has announced the signing of Jada Grannum to the Lady Raider program.
Grannum, a 6-foot-3 forward at Lincoln Prep in Mississauga, Ontario, signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) on the first day of the NCAA Early Signing Period Wednesday.
"We are thrilled with the addition of Jada to our program," Insell said. "She has great size and athleticism. She moves well without the ball and is a high-energy player. Jada will be a sound post player for us. We are excited about her."
Grannum participated in the Blue Star 30 in Waukega, Ill., where she drew rave reviews for her play amongst some of the premier young prospects from the United States and abroad.
Mark Lewis with Bluestar Media evaluated Grannum at the USJN National Championship during the Prospects On The Potamac at National Harbor, Maryland and came away impressed.
"Good strength, moves well. First step is strong for her size. Works hard in the paint and challenges other bigs. Lots of tools," Lewis wrote.
Grannum comes from an athletic family. Her dad, Fred, was a college player and now serves as her trainer and is a coach. One of her brothers, Juwon, played for Ryerson University in Canada, and the other, Xavier, went to Florida State.
