MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track and field teams are set to begin their indoor season this weekend, while some of the team heads to Birmingham, Ala. and others compete in Boston, Mass.
A portion of the track and field team will compete in the Birmingham Southern Icebreaker on Friday at the Birmingham Complex. The first field event is set to begin at 9 a.m. and the first track event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Likewise, two individual runners, Jacob Choge and Kigen Chemadi, will compete in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University on Saturday. Both men are competing in one event on the day, which is the men's 5000 meter run set to begin at 3:40 p.m. CT.
Last season, the Blue Raider men took home the Conference USA title for the second time in three years, while the women took the bronze. MT will see much of the same talent this season with several Blue Raiders returning; however, there are a plethora of new faces joining the team as well, as both the men and women prepare to claim another conference title.
