Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series 34-17 over Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders have won the last five in a row, and most recently took down the Govs 8-2 on the road in Clarksville. Before that, MT won the last home game 3-2 last season to complete the season sweet over APSU.
Austin Peay began the Kassie Stanfill era this season as the former Middle Tennessee Assistant took the helm in August of 2018. Stanfill was an assistant coach at MT in 2011-12 and was an assistant coach at Louisville, her alma mater, from 2016-18 before taking the head coaching position at Austin Peay. So far in her first year, the Govs are 8-6 behind some strong performances by Morgan Rackel. Last weekend, she pitched a 16-inning, 16-strikeout complete game in a 2-1 win over McNeese.
The Govs won two of three on their road trip to McNeese and Lamar. They won a doubleheader over McNeese before falling 3-0 to Lamar the next day.
Middle Tennessee went 7-1 last year against Ohio Valley Conference teams last season including wins over Tennessee State, Belmont, and UT-Martin.
