The highly-touted Volunteers (19-3) struck first in the Midstate Classic with a run in each of the first two innings to open with a 2-0 advantage.
After Amber Baldwin sent the top of the Vols' lineup down in order, Tennessee loaded the bases with one out in the fourth. Baldwin forced the Vols to hit a ground ball, then catcher Ryan King recovered a loose ball and tagged the runner out at the plate to end the bottom of the fourth.
