Final Results
STATESBORO, Ga. – Middle Tennessee men's golf finished the Schenkel Invitational Sunday with its best round of the week, carding a 3-over par 291 in the final round to hold its standing with an eighth place finish at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Blue Raiders' strong final round allowed them to surpass Conference USA foe UAB on the final day, earning a win against the league's highest ranked team in the No. 67 Blazers.
Junior Tanner Owens logged the best round of the day for Middle Tennessee, using a 3-under par 69 to finish 1-over par (75-73-69=217) for the week and climbed into a tie for 16th to log the top finish for the Raiders.
Freshman Palmer Sadlowski collected an impressive final round of his own on Sunday, firing back after a tough pair of rounds to open The Schenkel with an even par 72 on the final day.
Seniors Marcus Byrd and James Beckner as well as sophomore Cooper Sears turned in rounds of 3-over par 75 on the final day. Byrd (70-75-75=220) and Sears (72-74-75=221) each collected Top 35 finishes in the challenging field, earning ties for 28th and 34th, respectively.
The Blue Raiders now hope to use their strong final round to propel them into a stretch of closely scheduled tournaments, which begins with the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate a week from today.
