Raiders lose pitchers duel to Maine

Murfreesboro, Tenn.- The Middle Tennessee softball team lost in a mid week match-up with Maine. The Raiders (15-15, C-USA 1-2) were edged out, 2-1, by the Black Bears (4-12) in a pitchers duel Thursday at the Blue Raider Softball Field.
Middle Tennessee jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Lani Rodriguez, to bring home Sydney Heath. This would be the only Raider run, as strong winds and the Maine pitching staff would keep Middle Tennessee off the scoreboard for the rest of the game.
Maine scored two runs in the top of the third on back-to-back sacrifice bunts by Shanna Scribner and Laurine German.
The Raiders were led by pitcher, Kailey Ahlstrom despite picking up the loss. Ahlstrom (4-6) pitched all seven innings, gave up two runs, on three hits, and collected four strikeouts.
Next up on the Raiders schedule is a double header at home on Saturday with C-USA opponent, FIU. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
