Round 2 Results
AWENDAW, S.C. – Middle Tennessee Men's Golf put together a second round on Monday that was eerily similar to Sunday's first round, struggling early on before firing back with a 2-under par mark on its final six holes to finish the day 10 strokes over par.
The Blue Raiders are 11-over par (289-298=585) on the week and sit one stroke back of Purdue (+10) with 18 holes remaining on Tuesday.
Underclassmen Cooper Sears and Palmer Sadlowski fired the low rounds for McEntire's squad on Monday with matching scorecards 1-over par 73, highlighted by an eagle on the Par 5 fourth hole by Sears.
Sears, now 3-over (72-73=145) for the tournament, sits in a tie for 30th place with Sadlowski two strokes back (74-73=147) and tied for 43rd.
Junior Tanner Owens carded a 3-over 75 after a tough start to the Hootie on Sunday and is now 9-over (78-75=153) on the week.
Seniors Marcus Byrd and James Beckner turned in rounds of 5-over par (77) and 7-over par (79), respectively, on Tuesday. Byrd is tied with Sadlowski at 3-over par (70-77=147) for the tournament while Beckner is 8-over par (73-79=152) through 36 holes.
"Today was just a tough day all the way around," head coach Mark McEntire said. "I'm happy with the rounds we got from Palmer and Cooper today. We just need to see if we can put together something tomorrow to give us some confidence for our next tournament."
MT will tee off at 9:30 a.m. ET Tuesday alongside Wisconsin (+7) and Purdue.
