MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – For the fourth consecutive season, the Blue Raider women's golf program is represented on the Conference USA All-Academic Team as senior Hanley Long has earned her third straight appearance on the five-member team.
The only member of the team to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA, Long is set to graduate from Middle Tennessee in May with a degree in Organizational Communication.
Also a three-time WGCA All-American Scholar, Long leads the Blue Raiders and all of Conference USA in stroke average this season at 72.3 strokes per round and is the highest ranked golfer in C-USA according to Golfstat with a No. 111 national ranking.
"Hanley has proven throughout her career that she is as hard of a worker in the classroom as she is on the course," head coach Chris Adams said. "She is a tremendous leader and a great example of the type student-athlete we strive to build our program with."
In addition to her unprecedented third selection to the all-academic team, the Blue Raider veteran is on the verge of making athletic history as well with her name rising through multiple categories in the record book.
Most notably, Long is currently on pace to break the Middle Tennessee school records for single season and career stroke average at the completion of her outstanding career.
Her most recent record-breaking performance came less than two weeks ago, when the Clarksville native turned in a 7-under par 206 to finish second at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate with the lowest 54-hole total in program history.
Riding the momentum of 5-under par 66 in the final round in Memphis, Long leads the Blue Raiders into the Conference USA Championship on Monday.
Middle Tennessee will compete for their third C-USA title in five years (2015, 2016) at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
