Raiders Respond with Resilience in Final Day of the C-USA Pod

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Middle Tennessee men's tennis squad responded with resilience after ODU snapped their six match win streak Saturday with a huge 4-1 win over C-USA rival FAU on Sunday to finish 2-1 on the weekend.
Last season, the Owls knocked the Blue Raiders out of the C-USA tournament in the semifinals, 4-1. MT came back with revenge in 2019 as they posted the replica score back onto FAU on the final day of C-USA pod action. Raiders have won seven out of their last eight matches and seem to be peaking at the right time before hosting the tournament in the 'Boro.
The Blue Raiders righted the ship back to what they do best by starting the match off with a 1-0 lead. No. 67 ranked pair Tom Moonen and Chris Edge fought in a tight match with FAU's No. 81 Legall/Garcia to a 7-6 win for the Raider duo. Senior Gonzalo Morell and freshman Pavel Motl blanked their match up in the third doubles spot 6-0 for the true blue point.
Out of the 25 doubles points played this year, the Blue Raiders have won 16 of them.
MT did not look back after taking the first point. Gonzalo Morell, Max Rauch and Chris Edge earned the singles wins for the Blue Raider victory. Three of the matches went to triple sets, including Rauch and Edge who won helped clinch. Stijn Slump and Pavel Motl was left unfinished.
