CoSIDA Release
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee was represented by three student-athletes on the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
After helping his team win a Conference USA championship on the tennis court, Tom Moonen was selected to the All-District Men's At-Large Team. Moonen holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in Accounting and Business Administration.
The junior was also named to the 2019 InTouch Credit Union C-USA Men's Tennis All-Academic Team and was an ITA Scholar Athlete in 2017. Along with partner Chris Edge, Moonen peaked at No. 52 in doubles rankings this season.
Also a 2019 C-USA champion, men's golfer James Beckner was listed on the All-District Men's At-Large Team for the second time in his Blue Raider career. Beckner held a 75.0 stroke average in his final season with six rounds of par or better.
A Kingsport, Tenn. native, Beckner is a three-time C-USA Academic Medal Winner and was selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team in 2018 and 2019. After graduating with a 4.0 GPA majoring in Biology, Beckner will enroll in dental school at the University of Tennessee in the fall.
Hanley Long capped a brilliant career on the links by participating in the NCAA Auburn Regional in early May, while also earning a spot on the All-District Women's At-Large Team. The 2019 C-USA Golfer of the Year graduated with a 4.0 GPA in Organizational Communication.
Long led her squad in rounds of par or better (12), stroke average (72.7), lowest 54-hole total (206) and lowest round (66). In the classroom, Long has four C-USA Academic Medals to her credit while being named a WGCA All-American Scholar each of her first three seasons. In April, Long was awarded the female President's Award at the Raiders' Choice Awards.
All-District honorees automatically advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Ballot, with honorees announced in June.
