5/7/2019 9:58:00 PM | Baseball
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It took extra innings but Tennessee Tech (17-31) was able to outlast the Blue Raiders (20-27), winning 10-9 in 10 innings on Tuesday night.
The Blue Raiders had a one run advantage heading to the bottom of the 10th inning but Tech was ready to swing. After a leadoff double to start the inning, the Golden Eagles tied it up with an RBI single. Tech would go on to win on a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the inning.
The game featured plenty of extra-base hits as both teams combined for 12 extra-base hits. Peter Brown ended the Blue Raiders three-game streak of no extra-base hits immediately with a home run to lead off the game. Along with his first career home run, Brown drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th to give the Blue Raiders the lead.
Brett Stratinsky was able to collect a trio of clutch RBIs. The lefty drove in two runs on and RBI single in the top of the seventh to make it a one run game, and then would come up clutch with a go ahead RBI in the ninth.
Myles Christian, Brycen Thomas, and Nick Carnevale all collected a pair of hits. Carnevale blasted his second home run of his Blue Raiders career in the sixth inning. Carnevale would also come around to score two runs.
