MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Fresh off a second half explosion in a 4-0 victory over Austin Peay on Sunday, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (2-0-0) will look to keep the ball rolling this week as they head on road to face Western Carolina (1-0-0) on Thursday before returning home on Sunday to take on rival WKU (1-0-1) at 5 p.m.
Road match is at Catamount Athletic Stadium and is set for 8 p.m. while Sunday's match will be back in Murfreesboro at Dean Hayes Stadium with kickoff at 5 p.m.
Looking Back: Two Dominate Wins
In a full team effort that saw 23 players in action in the Royal Blue and Black, the Blue Raiders opened the season on a high note as Middle Tennessee posted a 5-1 victory over Evansville at McCutchan Stadium.
Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest shined on the offensive end for the Raiders, scoring the first two goals of the match. Juniors Carolin Engelhard and Elizabeth Watts followed up what DePriest was handing out. Lastly, C-USA Freshman of the Year Hannah Tillett joined in on the action to cap off the scoring.
In their first official home match, Middle Tennessee looked impressive with a 4-0 win against Austin Peay. Junior forward Maddi Falter led the way with two goals, while Peyton DePriest and Hannah Tillett each had one of their own.
The first half seemed to be tightly contested throughout with both teams failing to find the back of the net. However, the second half was all Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders dominated possession time and continued to put pressure on the Austin Peay keeper. By the end of the match the shot total for Middle Tennessee would be 28, while Austin Peay would only have 8.
