FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Despite climbing two spots midway through the day two, another tough outing for the Middle Tennessee Women's Golf team saw them fall to 14th on the team leaderboard by the time round two of the Mason Rudolph Championship concluded.
Head Coach Chris Adams' young lineup saw struggles one through five on the day, with junior Sophie Burks providing the best round for the Blue Raiders at 4-over par 76.
Sisters Caroline and Catherine Caudill as well as freshman Molly Bebelaar carded rounds of 5-over par 77 Saturday while sophomore Madison Smith finished day two at 7-over par 79.
The team score of 19-over par 307 on Saturday has the Blue Raiders at 33-over par on the championship, currently one stroke up on Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic and within 10 strokes of Northwestern (+24) and Missouri (+27).
"I like that we were able to eliminate the big numbers today, but we weren't able to take advantage of good position in the middle of the fairway where we ended up with too many bogeys," Adams said. "We didn't finish strong on the round, so now we just have to keep battling and hopefully good things will happen tomorrow and we can improve our standings.
"We just have to take it one shot at a time, this is a long season and we need to stay focused and try to improve each tournament."
Caroline Caudill will lead off for the Blue Raiders on Sunday at 9:55 a.m. followed by younger sister Catherine, Smith, Burks and Bebelaar.
