LEXINGTON, Ky. – With 36 holes down and only 18 remaining at the University Club of Kentucky, the Blue Raider Women's Golf team sits in fifth place after a second round team total of 12-over par 300.
Middle Tennessee is now 16-over (292-300=592) for the tournament and only four strokes out of a move into the Top 3 on the team leaderboard.
"It was a tougher day out there today with stronger winds on the back nine, and we just didn't play as well today," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "Some putts weren't falling as well, but we know we can still make up some ground tomorrow."
Junior Sophie Burks remained in the Top 10 on day two, carding a 2-over par 74 on Saturday to land in a eighth place tie with one round remaining.
Freshman Molly Bebelaar fought back in a big way in round two, following up a 4-over par 76 with an even par 72 that saw her shoot up the individual leaderboard into a share of 18th place.
"I'm proud of the way Molly played today, and Sophie gave back a few at the end but still played well most of the day," Adams added.
Junior Caroline Caudill and sophomore Madison Smith each concluded round two at 7-over par for the week and are inside the Top 30 after rounds of 4-over 76 and 7-over 79, respectively.
Sophomore Catherine Caudill turned in a 6-over par 78 on day two and is two strokes back of Smith and sister, Caroline, at 9-over par thru 36 holes.
Junior Savannah Quick, competing in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational as an individual, is 7-over par after a round two score of 4-over 76 and ranks third among the 10 individual competitors in the field.
Middle Tennessee will tee off in a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday alongside WKU (+14) and Rutgers (+17) as they look to catch Kentucky (-4), Penn State (+4) and Eastern Kentucky (+12).
