Hot start for Raiders continue

5-0 is the best start since 2001
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis stayed perfect earning back-to-back victories on Saturday, defeating Wichita State, 4-2, followed by a 4-0 win over Drake.
Opening up the first match of the day against Wichita State, the Blue Raiders succumbed the doubles point to the Shockers.
Down 1-0 heading into singles, the Blue Raiders led on five courts after the first set with No. 76 Chris Edge winning the Raiders' first singles point on court 3 by defeating Lago, 6-2, 6-2. He has won five straight.
On court 5, Francisco Rocha gave Middle Tennessee's first lead to 2-1 after winning in a straight set, 6-2, 6-4, over Wichita State's Latinovic.
After Shocker's No. 122 Ovil took the first set, Stijn Slump battled tough in the second set but fell in tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
With the match tied up at 2-2, senior Tom Moonen clutched two big tiebreaking sets (7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2)), putting the Raiders up 3-2. Moonen is 3-0 in singles.
He does it again. Sophomore sensation Pavel Motl clinched the match for the Blue Raiders in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-1). Motl moved to 3-0.
Coming off of a powerful win over Wichita State, the Blue Raiders began play against Drake late at night.
The Raiders quickly won the doubles point over the Bulldogs with wins on courts 1 and 3.
On court 3, seniors Max Rauch and Daniel Stormon took down Drake's pair Hall/Nyman 6-2 followed by No. 48 duo of Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump earning the win over Bulldog duo Jarvis/Thorold 6-1 on court 1.
In singles play, Motl earned the first singles point for the Blue Raiders for his second win on Saturday, taking down Drake's Powell in a straight set victory, 6-1, 6-2.
Motl's victory was followed by a strong win on court 4 by Rauch, who earned a straight-set win over Drake's Jarvis, 6-0, 6-4, advancing the Raiders' lead to 3-0.
Earning his fifth-straight win, Edge clinched the Raiders' fourth point by dominating Fragistas on court 3, 7-5, 6-1.
Middle Tennessee stays undefeated on the season at 5-0 and will be back in action Sunday at 2 p.m. as it takes on host Arkansas.
