Raiders Prepared for Indiana University Relays

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track and field teams are on the road to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend for the Indiana University Relays where they will compete against teams across several different conferences such as the SEC, Big Ten, ACC and more.
Last weekend, the Blue Raiders went all out at the Green and Gold Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. where they saw 26 top-five finishes. Cecilia Francis claimed second place overall in the women's 60-meter dash (7.50s) and fifth place in the 200-meter.
MT saw several winners on the weekend as well, such as Eusila Chepkemei and Jacob Choge in the men's and women's 800-meter events, and Mercy Chepkurui and Brian Rono in the one mile events. Nathan Mack also saw a new personal best time of 51.09s in the men's 400-meter finishing 17th overall.
Jaquez Torian and Willington Wright currently rank second and third in Conference USA in the men's 400-meter, and are 13th and 18th in the nation. Brian Rono, Jacob Choge, Titus Lagat and Stephen Mengich all rank top-five in the conference in the men's 800-meter, with Rono taking the 12th spot in the nation.
Kigen Chemadi and Jacob Choge continue to hold the No. 1 and 2 spots in the conference in the men's 5,000-meter after they both broke the program record at Boston University. They also rank fourth and fifth in the nation with times of 13:36.82 and 13.38.48.
The Blue Raiders will compete in 22 events on the weekend, including 15 track events, six field events and the women's pentathlon. The meet is scheduled to begin Friday at 4 p.m. CT, starting with the women's weight throw and men's heptathlon. The women's pentathlon will kick-off Saturday's events at 7:30 a.m. CT.
