Blue Raiders Open Reese Smith Jr. Field By Hosting SAF Classic

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee baseball team brings baseball back to the Boro and Reese Smith Jr. Field this weekend hosting four teams in the Southern Athletic Fields Classic. The Blue Raiders will take on Bradley, Evansville, Samford, and Missouri State beginning at 3:00 PM CST on Thursday.

About the Blue Raiders
• Peyton Wigginton was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week. Wigginton's 7.2 innings, five strikeouts, and no walks kept the Blue Raiders in the game. MT would fall in the bottom of the ninth to the Tar Heels in a 2-1 decision.
• The 2020 Blue Raider roster is made up of 26 newcomers (19 transfers and seven freshmen) accounting for 74.3 percent of the team.
The SAF Classic
• The Blue Raiders will be playing four different teams in four days during the SAF Classic starting with Bradley on Thursday.
• SAF Classic teams Bradley and Samford combined for 72 wins in 2019.
• Each SAF Classic team made conference tournament runs but each fell short of their 2019 tournament championship.
Last Time Out
• The Blue Raider dropped their first three games of the season but led the No 13 ranked Tar Heels in both games one and two, and out hit North Carolina 11-6 in game three of the series.
• 28 player played in the three game set in Chapel Hill, including 20 that made their Blue Raider debut.
Next Time Out
• After the SAF Classic, the Blue Raiders will stop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a mid-week matchup with Alabama before arriving in New Orleans to play a weekend series against Tulane. First pitch in Tuscaloosa is set for Wednesday at 3:00 PM CST.
