Lady Raiders sweep the Skyhawks

First sweep of the season for the Raiders
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team claimed a sweep in the first of three matches this weekend with a 5-0 win over UT-Martin on Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders opened the match in doubles play where they clinched the doubles point over the Quakers with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Junior Lee Barnard and freshman Muskan Gupta teamed up to secure the Raiders' first doubles victory with a 6-2 win over Sakurai and Aubin.
On court 1, junior Zani Barnard and senior Marta Herrero Peris rallied to outlast Campbell and Pratt 7-5 to secure the doubles point for the Raiders.
Leading the Skyhawks 1-0 the Blue Raiders looked to extend their lead in singles play.
Lee Barnard dominated at No. 2 singles to take down Campbell in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to advance the Raiders' lead to 2-0 followed by Marta Peris Herrero overpowering Aubin at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-3 to put the Blue Raiders up 3-0 over the Skyhawks.
Freshman Muskan Gupta clinched the Raiders' dual match victory with a straight set win over Sakurai 6-2, 6-2 and seconds after Love-Star Alexis earned her first dual match win 7-5, 6-3 over Streif to advance the Blue Raiders to a 5-0 win over UT-Martin.
Middle Tennessee will face Chattanooga tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Adams Tennis Complex. Admission to the match is free.
