New Orleans, La. – The Middle Tennessee baseball team fell to Tulane, 2-0, in game one of a three game series. The Blue Raiders (3-6, C-USA 0-0) were no-hit by the Green Wave (7-2, AAC 0-0) for the program's first no-hitter since 2005 and the third since 1998.
The Blue Raiders lone base runner was catcher Mason Speirs in the sixth inning who reached on an error by the Green Wave shortstop.
Despite the woes of the Raider offense, MT was kept in striking by great pitching performances from Aaron Brown and Brycen Thomas. Brown pitched five innings, struck out two, and allowed just one earned run in his third start of the season. Brown was followed by three innings and six strikeouts from Thomas who made his first appearance of 2020 on the mound for the Blue Raiders.
"It's nice that we found another guy that can come in and pitch like that," said Head Coach Jim Toman about the scoreless three innings he saw from Thomas.
The Blue Raiders will pick back up again tomorrow against Tulane in game two of the series at 2:00 PM CST.
