Final Results
HOOVER, Ala. – A strong round was needed Tuesday if the Blue Raider Women's Golf team wanted to make a move up the leaderboard, and that's exactly what it got as Middle Tennessee jumped four teams in the final round to finish in a tie for fourth place at the Hoover Invitational.
Head Coach Chris Adams led her squad to a round of even par 288, the second best round on the course Tuesday and MT's best round of the week, to finish with a 54-hole scorecard of 27-over par (306-297-288=891) alongside host UAB.
Sophomore Molly Bebelaar used a spectacular birdie-eagle finish on Tuesday to rank as the top finisher for MT on the week, posting a 54-hole total of 5-over par (77-74-70=221) to claim a share of 13th place after closing the event out with a 2-under par 70.
Senior Caroline Caudill matched Bebelaar with an impressive 2-under par 70 of her own in the final round to climb up the leaderboard into a tie for 16th at 6-over par (78-74-70=222).
Fellow senior Sophie Burks was steady as can be down the stretch, logging nine pars in her final 10 holes to finish the day at 1-over 73 while carding a 7-over par (76-74-73=223) performance and Top 20 finish to start the year.
"We really got a great finishing round from everyone today," Adams stated. "We stepped up and got better each day, and I'm really proud of how Molly and Caroline finished today and to have three players in the Top 20 at the end of the week."
Junior Catherine Caudill turned in an 11-over par (75-77-75=227) score in Hoover to give MT four golfers inside the Top 26 in a field of 64 golfers.
Sophomore Taylor Edlin and junior Madison Smith each finished the week tied for 40th at 17-over par.
Middle Tennessee now has about three weeks to continue improving on what made them so successful in today's final round before teeing off in the Lady Red Wolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State on Oct. 12.
"We have a lot still to work on, but we're looking forward to preparing for our next outing at Arkansas State," Adams added.
