MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee welcomed UAB into town on Sunday afternoon riding a wave of momentum. Having clinched a spot in the postseason with a 2-0 shutout of conference foe UTEP, the Blue Raiders had a shot to extend the winning streak to four. Defensively, the Blue Raiders certainly did enough to get the job done, allowing just one goal on five shots on net. That one goal proved to be enough, however, for UAB to steal its third road victory of the year with a 1-0 win.
UAB controlled possession for much of the match's first 15 minutes, totaling four of its five first-half shots in that period of time. That all changed when Middle Tennessee Head Coach Aston Rhoden made a trio of substitutions that provided an offensive spark for the Blue Raiders.
Sophomore's Ida Eriksen and Taylor Hamlett worked hard on the left side of the UAB backline, providing Middle Tennessee with a handful of good looks from deep in the Blazer half of the pitch while junior Elizabeth Slavinsky's passing set up other forwards such as Peyton DePriest and Miya Lennon with two of Middle Tennessee's first three shots on goal.
True freshman Laura Zemberyova of UAB helped the Blazers push the envelope early in the second half, as she took four shots within the first twenty minutes of the second half and netted the first goal of the match in the 62' as she burned Hannah Suder over the top-right side.
In the second half, UAB outshot MT 12 to three and prevented MT from getting a single shot on net over the final 45 minutes.
Goalkeeper Hannah Suder's four saves moved her season total to 64, good enough for second in the conference just behind Rice's Bella Kilgore.
