Blue Raiders Notch Two Top-10 Victories at the ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – The Blue Raiders competed in the ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Pavel Motl, Stijn Slump, Francisco Rocha represented the Blue Raiders.
Rocha made history defeating the 2021 Big 12 Player of the Year and nationally-ranked Luc Fomba in convincing fashion. Rocha's victory was the highest ranked singles win under head coach Jimmy Borendame in his coaching career at MT. Rocha defeated TCU's eighth-ranked Fomba, 7-6, 6-4, in the Round of 64 in the Main Draw.
In the doubles Main Draw Round of 32, Motl/Slump squared off with ninth ranked tandem in the country from Duke, Johns/Sculley. Motl/Slump took the first set 7-5 and never looked back, and now the duo is on to the Round of 16. The MT pair won in straight sets to advance.
Incredible day for Middle Tennessee athletics as they won two matches with three different student-athletes against top-10 opponents. It is the first time in school history that has happened at the ITA All-American Championships in the Borendame era.
HEAD MEN'S TENNIS COACH JIMMY BORENDAME
"This was one of the best fall tournament days for our team. Two top-10 wins in one day. It just really shows we have a lot of potential and we have more work to do. I'm looking forward to these guys competing tomorrow."
