MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Do you ever have those days where it just seems like everything is falling into place and nothing can stop you? Well, if you are the Middle Tennessee men's tennis team, you know exactly how that feels.
The Blue Raiders put on two absolutely dominating performances on Sunday when they faced Lipscomb early in the day and took on Tennessee State in the afternoon.
In the early match, Middle Tennessee got off to a good start with the tandem of Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump winning 6-1 in their doubles match-up. The doubles point would come down to court two, where Tom Moonen and Chris Edge took down their opponents 6-2 to secure the doubles win.
Next up was the singles portion of the match, where the Raiders would continue their reign of dominance. Middle Tennessee would win five out of the six courts in straight sets. One awe-inspiring play came from Francisco Rocha after sending an ace off a serve across the net, which won him the match in the second set 6-1, 6-3.
As for the doubleheader's afternoon portion, Middle Tennessee would be looking to get their 25th straight victory against the Tennessee State Tigers.
The doubles pair of Rocha and Rauch had a thriller of a match-up; after a hard-fought battle, they were able to come out on top 7-5. The other two doubles courts would be swept by the Blue Raiders, earning them the 1-0 advantage heading into the singles match-ups.
It would be quick work for all of the Blue Raiders, with five out of the six courts being swept in two sets. Stijn Slump and Patrick Kristensen would have impressive performances, winning their matches without losing a single game.
These two victories add to what has already been an impressive season for Middle Tennessee, who now sit at 7-3.
The Blue Raiders will be back at Adam's Tennis Complex on Friday, March 5, to take on another in-state foe in the Vanderbilt Commodores. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
