MT drops road match to Virginia Tech, 4-1

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team fell on the road, 4-1, to Virginia Tech on Sunday.
Middle Tennessee (4-3, 1-0 C-USA) began the match with Chris Edge and Tom Moonen picking up a close 7-6 (7-2) victory on court two in doubles, defeating the Hokies' Chrysostom and Harper. However, VT won on courts one and three, 7-5 and 7-6 (7-4), respectively, to win the doubles point.
Tom Moonen picked up Middle Tennessee's lone point on the day with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Donata on court one. On court six, Pavel Motl fell to Fishback in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Stijn Slump took VT's No. 2 player, Ross, to a first set tiebreaker but ultimately fell 7-6, 6-3. At court number three, Francisco Rocha fell to Ribeiro 6-3, 6-4 for the Virginia Tech clinch.
Chris Edge and Max Rauch was left unfinished on courts four and five.
UP NEXT: The Blue Raiders return to the friendly confines of the Adam Tennis Complex for a meeting with Illinois State, beginning on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
