The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the second set. The rest of the set would be a back-and-forth affair as there were nine ties. A kill by Kayla Henley would tie the set at 24 and force Charlotte to call a timeout. Middle Tennessee used back-to-back attack errors to take the second set 26-24 and tie the match at 1-1.
Amelia Van Der Werff notched her ninth kill as the Blue Raiders took a 5-3 lead early in the third set. Holding on to a one-point lead, Charlotte reeled off three straight points to grow their lead to 15-11. Thanks to a Samira Lawson Body kill, the Blue Raiders tied the set at 18. The 49ers would use two straight kills to clinch the set and take a 2-1 match lead.
Charlotte would use an 11-3 run to build a sizable lead early in the fourth set. The Blue Raiders picked up five straight points attempting to get back into the set. The 49er offense would be too much as they rode the momentum all the way to the match win.
Middle Tennessee will return to action on Mar. 7 as they will host Marshall inside Alumni Memorial Gym.
