SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After splitting yesterday's doubleheader, the Middle Tennessee baseball team dropped the final game of the weekend series at UTSA, 15-1. The Roadrunners (14-12, C-USA 6-5) struck for eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach from the Blue Raiders (16-14-1, C-USA 5-6-1).
UTSA added a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning on a home run to left-center field by designated hitter Ian Bailey to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
Blue Raider freshman Jacob Williams cut the Roadrunner lead in half, banging his third double of the weekend off the left field wall scoring Hunter Sullivan from second base.
Williams finished the series in San Antonio 6-for-13 and slugged .692 over four games.
However, the UTSA offensive began to open it up and scored 13 runs over the next three innings on 10 hits including three home runs.
MT starting pitcher Trent Seibert tossed 3.2 innings, allowed five hits and six runs on the afternoon before handing the game over to the Blue Raider bullpen.
The Blue Raider offense combined for three walks and six hits in the game, four of which came of the bats of Williams and Sullivan, and struck out just five times.
MT will look to bounce back on with a four-game weekend series against rival WKU beginning on Friday, April 16th in Bowling Green, Ky. First pitch for Friday's contest is scheduled for 5 p.m.
