Women's golf heads to Knoxville for Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Women's Golf on Monday starts its first of two tournaments this week, teeing off at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The tournament will be played on the par-71, 5,897-yard course at Cherokee Country Club, with 36 holes played Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

"We are excited to go back to Cherokee and compete against a very strong field and also a couple of C-USA opponents in Charlotte and UTSA," head coach Chris Adams said. "Coming off a great first tourney, I believe the players are ready to play again and keep the momentum going."

- The Blue Raiders are coming off a tournament in which they posted the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history, carding a collective 855 (-9) to finish third at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.
- Graduate student Sophie Burks set a program record of her own in Mobile, turning in a 205 (-11) to tie for third individually,
- Graduate student Caroline Caudill recorded a career-low 54-hole score of 213 (-3) in the season-opening event.
- The 17-team field features three top-25 teams in the latest Golfstat rankings, including No. 17 Virginia Tech, No. 21 Kent State and No. 22 Maryland.
