Volleyball Drops Last Match Before Conference Play to UTM

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders dropped their final pre-conference-play match in three sets to the UT Martin Skyhawks Tuesday night.
Middle Tennessee struggled to find any rhythm till it was too late. The Blue Raiders had a total of 41 errors throughout the night along with a brutal .090 attack percentage. The Skyhawks had three players with 10 or more kills that saw little to no defense when on the attack.
Middle Tennessee at UT Martin Set-by-Set
In set one the team was performing well, having their highest attack percentage on the day with .154, but whatever MT did, UTM found a way to do it better. The Skyhawks were able to muster up some impressive rallies that kept the set close the whole time. Although UTM had more errors, their attack was cutting through the Blue Raider defense with ease. UTM's Logan Wallick had six kills on six attempts with a 1.000 attack percentage that saw the Blue Raiders drop the set 25-27.
The Blue Raiders dropped set two 15-25 as the team hit a match low .037 attack percentage. Middle Tennessee's unforced errors made the socre insurmountable in the set, allowing UTM to have layups for points. The Blue Raider's communication and focus on the court seemed to be at a season-low in the set. Samira Lawson Body seemed to be the silver lining at this point in the match, leading the team with 5 kills on a .417 attack percentage.
Middle Tennessee showed up in set three with a different demeanor. The last set started with a laser from Dasia Smith that had the team energized for the next few reps. The Skyhawks' attack never dropped off though, allowing them to keep in the match till the end and win it 29-27.

The Blue Raiders head home for the start of conference play, as they take on Charlotte on September 24 at 6 p.m. CT and September 25 at 6 p.m. CT. Both matches will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
