Blue Raiders Return to Take on Regional Rivals Vanderbilt and Belmont

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After opening the season in Florida, Middle Tennessee women's tennis (1-1) returns to the Middle Tennessee area to take on region foes Vanderbilt (0-0) and Belmont (0-0) on Friday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in true road matches.
Last weekend the Blue Raiders split their opening matches to begin the 2022 Spring season, dropping a 1-6 decision against Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic and prevailing against Georgia State on Monday 4-1.
Junior Noelle Mauro left the extended weekend 2-0 on court No. 5 in singles, grabbing the lone point for the Blue Raiders in the match against FAU. Then coming back two days later and clinching the match against Georgia State and defeating fellow Georgia native Angel Carney in two sets 6-4, 6-4.
Veterans Lee Barnard and Zani Barnard gained their first singles win of the season in the match against Georgia state on courts No. 1 and 4. Love-Star Alexis took her adversary to three sets but came out on top 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. Muskan Gupta earned her first victory as well in a two set 6-4, 7-5 decision.
Freshman Eloise Swarbrick cracked the doubles lineup for the first time in her career over the weekend and came out victorious. The Australian had a decisive 6-3 win on court No. 3 paired up with Sophomore Lilly-Sophie Schmidt.

- Friday's matchup will be the 41st meeting all time between the two programs, the Commodores own a commanding 36-4 record over the Blue Raiders.

- In the second road match on Friday, the contest will be the 13th meeting between MT and Belmont. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 12-0 and 2-0 on the road.
