TULSA, Okla. — Oskar Brostrom Poulsen needed two more singles wins in day two of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa on Sunday to advance to the Qualifying round.
In the first match of the day, Brostrom Poulsen picked up a 6-3, 6-4 over Auburn's Spencer Gray.
The sophomore from Denmark tallied a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Emir Sendogan of Rice.
With the two wins today, Brostrom Poulsen will be joining our very own Francisco Rocha in the Qualifying round of the singles tournament. The duo of Brostrom Poulsen and Rocha will also be competing in the doubles in the Qualifying round.
This is the first time in Jimmy Borendame's tenure as a coach to have a player advance from one section of the ITA All-American Championships to the next.
ASSISTANT COACH ANDREA CALIGIANA
"At All-Americans, not only is the level of players really high, but you also have to be strong mentally and physically to be able to advance. Oskar has been playing two matches per day and on different sites. He has never complained, kept working hard and pushing through. He is not satisfied and wants more. Also, Francisco has been working hard these days and getting use to the Tulsa courts. Francisco has been helping with Oskar and being a great teammate. I'm extremely excited to see them compete tomorrow in singles and doubles."
