Middle Tennessee Continues Conference Play vs. Charlotte Thursday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Middle Tennessee women's basketball resumes Conference USA action when it hosts Charlotte Thursday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. inside the Murphy Center.
The Lady Raiders haven't lost in over a month and continue to receive votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls.

Middle Tennessee women's basketball opened Conference USA with another statement win, beating Rice, 74-68 Dec. 20.
Middle Tennessee (8-2, 1-0) scored 52 points in the second half after trailing Rice (9-1, 0-1) 22-27 at the break. Overall, the Lady Raiders hit 19 of 20 free throws, including shooting 15-of-16 in the second half.
Savannah Wheeler helped the Lady Raiders catch fire in the third, scoring nine points of a 13-4 run to give the Lady Raiders their first lead since the 6:23 mark in the second quarter. A run of 11 unanswered Lady Raider points gave the visitors their largest lead of the afternoon (60-53) with 4:24 to play.
Eight straight Owl free throws evened the score at 63-all at the 1:35 mark but a clutch 3-pointer for Alexis Whittington with 41 seconds left put MTSU back in front for good.
Courtney Whitson joined the 1,000-point club with 18 points, along with seven rebounds and two assists. The duo of Wheeler and Kseniya Malashka scored over 20 points. Malashka finished with 11 rebounds for her fourth career double-double while Wheeler dished five assists and made all 10 of her free throws.

LADY RAIDER NOTES
- MTSU is 120-35 vs. C-USA members since joining the league prior to the 2013-14 season. The 120 wins are the most of any league member during this span.
- Since receiving her diploma on Dec. 10, Kseniya Malashka has been on a tear. The redshirt senior who graduated with a degree in business administration, has averaged 18.3 points over her last three games. In that span, Malashka has eight blocks and 6.7 rebounds per game. Through 10 games, she leads Conference USA and ranks 27th in the nation in blocks per game with 1.9.
- The Lady Raiders are 25th in the latest NET ratings, ranked above any other program in Conference USA. NET rankings take into account game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency and quality of wins and losses.
- Middle Tennessee leads all of Conference USA and ranks 34th in the nation with a 17.4 scoring margin. In their eight wins, the Lady Raiders are averaging a 22.5 point differential, including a 52-point stomping of Southern Illinois Nov. 12.
- Charlotte is off to a 5-5 start to the season and won its conference opener vs. UAB, 85-79 Dec. 19. Before the win, the 49ers lost a pair of games to ACC opponents in Clemson (L, 54-79) and Wake Forest (L, 54-63).
- Charlotte began the season 3-1, including a dramatic 98-94 win in double overtime vs. App. State Nov. 8.
- One of three 49ers averaging in double figures this season, Jada McMillian is among conference leaders in assists per game (first, 4.5) and minutes per game (second, 36.03).
- Dazia Lawrence and Mikayla Boykin are each putting up 15.6 points per game and over five rebounds per contest.
