MT Heading to C-USA OTF Championships in San Antonio

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams are heading to the four-day Conference USA Championships, hosted in San Antonio from Thursday, May 12, to Sunday, May 15. The women currently hold 24 top-ten marks in the Conference heading into the weekend and the men hold 15 top-ten marks, making them primed for a great weekend.

The Meet Schedule
The Blue Raiders will kick off the C-USA Championships on Friday with the men's 10,000 meter at 8:00 p.m. CT. Men's and women's long jump will kick things off Saturday for MT at 1:00 p.m. CT. Sunday will see the Blue Raiders start competing at 1:00 p.m. CT in the men's and women's triple jump.

Last Time Out for the Blue Raiders – Full Recap
The men's sprint medley team of Stephen Eloji, Alaba Akintola, Darian Jones, and Brian Rono took gold at the Penn Relays after scorching their competition with a final time of 3:24.70. The time is the ninth best in the nation this season according to USTFCCCA.
The women's jump squad of Abigail Kwarteng, Esther Isa, and Lyn'Nikka Vance had another successful weekend. In the women's long jump Vance took second place with a mark of 5.90 meters. Kwarteng and Isa took second and fourth in the women's high jump with heights of 1.84 and 1.76 meters respectively.
Another record was broken last weekend, and of course, Eusila Chepkemei was a part of it. The 4x800 meter team of Quanisha Marshall, Chepkemei, Johanna Bulow, and Francisca Jebor finished with a time of 9:06.59. The new program-best time shaved .04 seconds off of the previous best set in 1992 by Smith, Barnes, DeOliveria, and Weathers. This time ranks in the top ten in the nation this season according to USTFCCCA.
The men's 4x200 meter team of Jones, Eloji, Akintola, and Eaton ran an electric 800 meters together on the way to a first-place finish in their heat and a second-place finish overall in the collegiate section with a time of 1:25.53. This team time is the eight-best in the nation according to USTFCCCA.
