Middle Tennessee Drops Season Opener to North Florida
8/19/2022 11:42:00 AM | Women's Soccer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.— Middle Tennessee soccer fell against North Florida, 1-0 Friday morning at Hodges Stadium in its season-opening match.
The Osprey goal in the 36' proved to be the difference in the game, which was postponed due to heavy rain and unplayable field conditions.
After recording just one shot in the first half, the Blue Raider offense created more opportunities out of the break. Kirstine Lykke (57') and Delaney Thomas (62') took chances within minutes of each other but both shots went wide.
In her collegiate debut, Megan Carroll took two shots in 56 minutes while Madison Franz's shot on goal was saved in the 68'. Looking for one last chance, Carroll and Idun Kvaale each took strikes in the final five minutes but couldn't convert.
Jacksonville native Hannah Suder faced 12 shots and recorded four saves. Suder and Caroline Manley each played all 90 minutes.
By the Numbers
111 – Hannah Suder's career saves, moving her into sole possession of ninth place on the program's all-time list.
3,056 – Consecutive minutes played on the pitch by Caroline Manley.
8 – The number of Blue Raiders who made their collegiate debuts Friday.
Rhoden's Roundup
"This was a good road test for us," Head Coach Aston Rhoden said. "We didn't play well in the first half but were much better in the second half. We now need to regroup for another strong opponent in Jacksonville."
