Quick offense from the Rebels enough to down the Blue Raiders
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders fell victim to a quick pair of goals by No. 12 Ole Miss within the game's first 10 minutes, leading to a 4-0 loss in the Blue Raider's home opener at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
Ole Miss' first goal came at the 4' mark when senior Lauren Montgomery scored on a pass across the box from teammate Marykate McGuire, who scored the second Rebel goal of the game on an assist from Montgomery at the 8' mark. The Rebels tacked on one more goal before halftime when Maddie Bishop scored on a rebound at 19'. Ole Miss' fourth and final tally came at the 17' in the second half when Marykate McGuire netted her second goal of the night.
The first-half offensive pressure applied by Ole Miss was enough to help them finish things off in the second half. Notably for the Blue Raiders, freshman Taijah Fraser got her first career shot on goal in her second game played this season.

Rhoden's Roundup
"Coming in, we knew with Ole Miss being the 12th ranked team in the country, we were facing an extremely strong team," Rhoden said. "I think it's unfortunate that we gave up two early goals that changed whatever we had planned. I'm really proud of how throughout the game we kept fighting and battling. We started six freshman against the No. 12 team in the country. Hopefully that bodes well for us down the road."
Blue Raider Notes
- Goalkeeper Hannah Suder currently ranks in the top 10 in program history in seven different categories including: shutouts, games played, goals against average, minutes played, games started, career saves and winning percentage.
