Blue Raiders win home opener against Michigan State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — No. 25 Middle Tennessee men's tennis sweeps all six singles matches to take a 6-1 victory over Michigan State on Friday.
HEAD COACH JIMMY BORENDAME
"The boys came out a little slow in doubles today. I think the freshman were a little starstruck at the big crowd and got nervous. We know we can play better in doubles. We have a great system. I am impressed with how the guys stepped up and responded. Francisco came out and took care of business. Stijn topped it off with a really good win over a really good freshman. Overall, we had a good night."
The Spartans took two of the three doubles matches and the doubles point. Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump defeated Reed Crocker and David Saye 6-3.
Motl started the singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Matsuno 6-2, 6-1. Francisco Rocha defeated Sheldon 6-2, 6-2 to tally the second point for MTSU. Ondrej Horak won his singles match 6-4, 6-1 over Baylis. Oskar Brostrom Poulsen clinched the match winning game with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 against Pero.
Marcel Kamrowski picked up a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Saye. Slump tallied his second win of the night with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over No. 26 Baris.
SOPHOMORE OSKAR BROSTROM POULSEN
"The atmosphere at the ATC is amazing. Today was even more incredicle especially for myself. It came down for the first time for me to clinch. The crowd just helped me out a lot. I don't remener the crowd being that loud last year. To start this season by being this loud is absolutely amazing. The doubles were a bummer. We fought back to take all six singles against Michigan State. The job is not done."
