MTSU takes on LA Tech in Ruston on Friday and Saturday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team travels to LA Tech on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14. The Friday match will be at 6 p.m. CT and the Saturday match will be at 2 p.m. CT. Both matches will be live streamed on ESPN+ and have live stats to follow along.
The Blue Raiders are back on the road this weekend after being at home against Sam Houston last weekend. MTSU swept the Bearkats in both matches. The Blue Raiders are second in Conference USA in hitting percentage with a hitting percentage of .285.
Taylor Eisert is first in conference in assists per set earning 11.08 per set. Eisert became the fourth Blue Raider all-time to surpass the 3,000-career assist mark on Tuesday. Redshirt senior Kayla Henley leads the team in kills with 225 tallying 3.17 per set. Junior Laure Jansen has been outstanding on both sides of the ball earning 166 kills and 180 digs. Graduate student Kaylee Oscarson reached 100 career solo blocks in the last match.
Scouting LA Tech Bulldogs
LA Tech is 6-12 and 1-5 in CUSA play so far this season. In the last match, the Bulldogs fell to Sam Houston 3-0. LA Tech returns five players from last year. The Bulldogs have added six transfers and six freshmen. LA Tech leads CUSA in digs per set earning 16.17 per set.
On offense, sophomore Sydney Jackwin has tallied 137 kills. Junior Lauren Albrecht leads the team with 297 assists. Freshman Grace Krohn isn't too far behind with 244 assists.
On defense, junior McKenzie Johnson has totaled 303 digs earning 4.73 per set. Johnson is second in conference in digs per set. Senior Ashley Taylor has recorded 69 blocks averaging 1.08 per set.
This will be the 13th and 14th meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders lead the series 10-2 and have won the last two meetings.

- Rhoda has 95 service aces needing 5 more to reach 100 career service aces. The program record is 116 held by Marley Banton.
- Eisert broke the program record for career assists in the current 25-point era. The Louisville, Ky. native is the fourth Blue Raider all-time to reach 3,000 career assists. This season, she is a three-time CUSA Setter of the Week. Eisert was tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week on 9/12. She leads conference in assists per set with 11.08.
- Oscarson earned her 100th career solo block last time out.
