MTSU hosts UNC Asheville on Tuesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee volleyball team will welcome UNC Asheville to Alumni Memorial Gym on Tuesday, October 17 at 5 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and have live stats to follow along.
The Blue Raiders are back at home after being on the road to LA Tech last weekend. MTSU swept LA Tech in both matches and are on a five-match win streak. Junior Laure Jansen had an incredible weekend hitting the ball earning 30 kills on a .481 hitting clip.
The Blue Raiders are second in Conference USA in hitting percentage hitting at a .290 clip, assists per set with 12.51, kills per set earning 13.53 and service aces per set averaging 1.86 per set.
Taylor Eisert is first in conference in assists per set earning 11.1 per set. Redshirt senior Kayla Henley leads the team in kills with 244 tallying 3.17 per set. Jansen has been outstanding on both sides of the ball this season earning 196 kills and 197 digs. Sophomore Adri Rhoda is four aces away from the No. 100 in her career.
Scouting UNC Asheville Bulldogs
UNC Asheville is 6-14 so far this season. In the last match, the Bulldogs fell to Winthrop 3-0. UNCA returns 11 players from last year. The Bulldogs have added six transfers and 13 freshmen.
On offense, junior Matilde Teixeira has totaled 206 kills earning 3.03 per set which places her third in conference in kills per set. Teixeira is third in the Big South in kills per set. Senior Ona Elkins has 251 assists. Junior Baylor Herlehy is second in conference in hitting percentage with a .319 hitting clip.
On defense, sophomore Katie Nichols has tallied 166 digs. Junior Michelle Theo isn't too far behind with 147 digs. Herlehy has recorded 85 total blocks averaging 1.2 per set and leads conference in blocks per set.
This will be the third meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders lead the series 2-0. The last match between the two was in 2000.

- Rhoda has 96 service aces needing 4 more to reach 100 career service aces. The program record is 116 held by Marley Banton.
- Eisert broke the program record for career assists in the current 25-point era. The Louisville, Ky. native is the fourth Blue Raider all-time to reach 3,000 career assists. This season, she is a three-time CUSA Setter of the Week. Eisert was tabbed Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week on 9/12. She leads conference in assists per set with 11.08.
