Blue Raiders Back in Conference Action Sunday Against Sam Houston

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer returns to action following a week long break in matches.
Nine days removed from a historic 8-0 non-conference win over Chicago State, the Blue Raiders will seek three points from Conference USA foe Sam Houston.
Sunday's match against the Bearkats will commence at 1:00 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+ for streaming. MTSU will also wear its pink uniforms at Dean A. Hayes Stadium to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Notes and Storylines
» MTSU is coming off a historic blowout win over Chicago State on Sept. 29. Six goals in the Blue Raiders' 8-0 win came within a 15-minute stretch of the opening half, going into halftime up seven goals. The eight goals were the tied for the eighth-most in team history, and most since a win over Alabama A&M in 2013. MTSU had 35 total shots, which represent the 10th most in program history. The Blue Raiders' 20 shots on goal were tied for fifth-most ever.
Goalkeeper Calais Butts earned her first career start Friday night, while Emily McGrain also made her first appearance in net.
» Faith Adje recorded a hat trick off the bench against Chicago State, scoring in the 35', 40' and the 53'. Adje's hat trick was the first for the Blue Raiders since Ashley Shimberg scored four goals at Marshall on April 9, 2021.
» Manon Lebargy scored twice and had an assist in MTSU's thrashing of Chicago State. It marked the Lille, France native's second brace of the season, and the first time a Blue Raider paired two goals with an assist since Peyton DePriest did so against UAB on Nov. 1, 2019.
» Eleanor Gough has scored twice for the Blue Raiders this year, both in the 87'. She had the match-winner in a 1-0 victory at Howard Aug. 27 before equalizing at Tennessee Tech on Sept. 17 in a 2-2 draw.
» Hannah Suder recorded a career-high 11 saves against Liberty Sept. 21, moving into fourth place all-time in career saves at MTSU and becoming the fifth member of the 200 career save club.
» Suder and Caroline Manley seek spots on all-time program career record lists in 2023.
Suder currently stands in the top 10 of numerous program goalkeeping records, including being fourth in career saves (215), fourth in games started (56), third in games played (61) and fourth in minutes played (5,150:32).
Manley meanwhile has started in all 74 Blue Raider matches across her career. She currently stands at 5,486 consecutive minutes across 62 matches dating back to Oct. 11, 2019. With 6,762 total minutes under her belt, she moved to No. 3 all-time in career minutes played in program history among outfield players, and is the 12th Blue Raider to enter the 6,000 minute club.
Behind Enemy Lines
» Sam Houston carries a 4-5-2 overall record into the fixture. This includes a 2-2 mark in CUSA contests. A 1' goal in its last match carried the Bearkats to a 2-1 home win over LA Tech on Oct. 1.
» Sophomore Kennedy Baquero leads the squad with four goals, with fellow second-year player Pam Murray following closely with three goals and an assist.
» Second year head coach Sonia Curvelo leads the program into CUSA after joining the league from the Western Athletic Conference. She had previously served in the same capacity at Prairie View A&M.
