MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's tennis spring 2024 schedule has been set, head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall announced Tuesday. The Blue Raiders are scheduled to host 11 matches, including four in the outdoor portion of the season to be played on the brand new on-campus outdoor tennis facility.
"We are looking forward to our spring schedule," said MTSU Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall. "We have many quality non-conference teams which will help prepare us for the conference tournament. I am excited about coaching and watching our newcomers compete in their first spring season as Blue Raiders."
MTSU will open the season on the road for the month of January. On Friday, January 12, the team will take on new Conference USA foe Jacksonville State in Starkville, Miss. The very next day MTSU is at Mississippi State. The following Saturday, January 20, the Blue Raiders will travel to in-state foe Chattanooga. To close out the month, the Blue Raiders will head to Louisville, Ky. to take on Bellarmine on Friday, January 26 and then Louisville on Sunday, January 28.
In February, MTSU will host ETSU on the first Friday of the month. Two days later, the squad will welcome Alabama A&M to the Adams Tennis Complex indoor facility. The following weekend, the Blue Raiders host SEMO and Lipscomb back-to-back days on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10. For the first time on the road for the month, the team will make a short trip up to Austin Peay on Friday, February 16 and then head further north to Murray State on Sunday, February 18. On the last Friday, MTSU will welcome Tennessee State and Eastern Kentucky for a doubleheader. To end the month of February, the squad will host Troy on Sunday, February 25.
The Blue Raiders will begin March on the road against Conference USA foe FIU on Wednesday, March 6. After a week and a half off, MTSU is back in action at home to take on UAB on Saturday, March 16. That match will be the Blue Raiders' first at the brand new on-campus outdoor tennis facility, weather pending. On Wednesday, March 27, the team will welcome DePaul to town. To close out the month of March, the Blue Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they will head west to compete against two conference opponents in New Mexico State on Friday, March 19 and UTEP on Saturday, March 30.
The last month of regular season play will start at home with CUSA opponent Liberty on Friday, April 5. Two days later, the squad will stay in the volunteer state to travel to Memphis. On Wednesday, April 10, MTSU will make the short trip to Bowling Green, Ky. to take on another conference opponent in WKU. To cap off the regular season, the Blue Raiders will host new CUSA foe, Sam Houston, on Saturday, April 13.
"As our new on-campus facility gets closer to completion, there is a great buzz of excitement about hosting matches on campus again," said Coach Bailey-Duvall. "This will be a fun season."
The Conference USA Championship is set for April 18-21 in Miami, Fla., hosted by FIU.
