RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Middle Tennessee beat Montana 9-3 Sunday morning at Amy S. Harrison Field to close out the UC Riverside Tournament with a 4-1 record through the first weekend of the 2023 season.

The Blue Raiders took the lead in the third inning and pulled away with a late game offensive surge, pushing MTSU to its second win over Montana on the weekend.

Laura Mealer delivered a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, which helped her team pull away from the Grizzlies. Amaya Harris went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double down the right field line to give her team the lead in the third inning.

By the Numbers

Middle Tennessee now leads the all-time series, 2-0, against Montana with both victories coming this weekend at the UC Riverside Tournament.
Freshman Paige Connors got her second win of the season in the circle.
Transfers Shelby Echols (.462, 2 2B, 5 SB) and Savannah Behabetz (.385, 4 R) stood out at the plate all weekend long.
