Blue Raiders go 1-1 on the day for their best start since 2017

FORT MEYERS, Fla. - Middle Tennessee softball split Friday's two games in Fort Myers, Florida against Florida Gulf Coast and Boston College.
The Blue Raiders won the first game against Florida Gulf Coast 6-3 after getting out to an early five-run lead. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon, Feb. 18.
Claire Czajkowski hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give Middle Tennessee a 3-0 lead. Paige Connors pitched six innings and held the Eagles scoreless through four innings. Laura Mealer reached base four times and had two hits.
Julia Garcia opened the game up in the third inning with a bases-loaded double to give the Blue Raiders a 3-1 lead.
By the Numbers
· Middle Tennessee is off to the best start to a season since 2017.
· Paige Connors now has three wins on the season.
· Claire Czajkowski hit her first home run of the season in the first inning against FGCU.
