EATONTON, Ga. - Taylor Edlin started her spring with a strong round Friday, ending the first day of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in second place. The junior carded a 72 (E) in the first round as Middle Tennessee finished the day in a tie for fifth place at 310 (+22).
Edlin recorded five birdies, tied for the second-most among the field. Four of those birdies came on the front nine. She enters the second round one stroke off the individual lead.
Abbie Lee ended the round tied for 30th at 78 (+6). Catherine Caudill heads into Saturday's second round tied for 41st at 79 (+7).
Molly Bebelaar finished the round tied for 51st at 81 (+9). Lauren Gilchrist rounded out the lineup in a tie for 67th at 87 (+15).

After morning rain caused a delay to the start of the round, the 12-team, 71-player field played through high winds and cloudy conditions with temperatures reaching the mid-50s. Saturday's forecast calls for sunny conditions and a high of 59 degrees.
By the Numbers
5 - Edlin recorded five of the Blue Raiders' eight total birdies in the first round.
4.28 - MTSU's average score on par 4 holes was 4.28, tied for the best in the tournament with host Mercer.
HEAD COACH CHRIS ADAMS ON THE START TO THE SPRING SEASON
"After an hour rain/frost delay this morning, we had a little bit of a rough start with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour, especially around the lake. Taylor had a solid round and is one shot off the lead. We have to come out tomorrow with a mindset of not trying to attack the course and force mistakes but rather take what it gives you and be patient. Need to trim down the unforced errors and get better each day."
