MTSU wins 6-1 against Murray State on Friday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis extended their win streak to six matches as they defeated Murray State 6-1 on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Adams Tennis Complex.
HEAD COACH TAYO BAILEY-DUVALL
"We love Murfreesboro and we love playing at home. We are comfortable here and our crowd is great. Getting on the road after a long stretch of home match wins, it is still going to be exciting. We have built a lot of toughness and mental toughness. Character has progressed here at home. So that on the road, we are going to be even better. Getting quality on the road wins is going to be really pivotal to our ranking and as we continue to proceed through the year."
The Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point. On court No. 3, Camila Barragan and Lilly-Sophie took the win by forfeit. Love-Star Alexis and Muskan Gupta helped MTSU gain the doubles point winning 6-3 on court No. 2.
Barragan wins by forfeit on court No. 6 to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead. Noelle Mauro handled business on court No. 5 defeating her MSU opponent 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Sana Garakani clinches for the second match in a row winning 7-5, 6-2 on court No. 2. The Racers take a point on court No. 4. On court No. 3, Gupta fought back after losing the first set 3-6 to win the next two sets 6-4, 10-3. Alexis capped off the day with a 6-3, 7-5.
MTSU is currently 6-0 at home this season.
SENIOR LOVE-STAR ALEXIS
"We hadn't played Murray State since 2020, my freshman year. We did not know what to expect, but knowing we had one doubles already. We were confident in getting one of the two. Also, we had No. 6 singles won. Coming into the match, I, personally, was trying to carry on the streak I have here at home and with the team to help contribute to our win streak."
