Women’s tennis travels to Butler on Friday, No. 13 Vanderbilt on Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Fresh off their first road win of the season, Middle Tennessee women's tennis is set to face Butler on Friday, Feb. 24 at 12 p.m. CT in Indianapolis, Ind.
Two days later, MTSU will have a short road trip to take on No. 13 Vanderbilt on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. CT.
Last weekend, the Blue Raiders continued their home win streak winning 6-1 against Murray State on Friday. The last time MTSU was undefeated at home was the 2014-15 season. Two days later, the Blue Raiders picked up their first road win of the season battling for a 4-3 victory against Lipscomb. MTSU is on a seven-match win streak.
Love-Star Alexis is 5-2 on court No. 1. Muskan Gupta is 6-2 on court No. 3 in singles and 6-2 in doubles. Lilly-Sophie Schmidt has a 6-2 singles record as well. As a team, the Blue Raiders are 38-10 in singles so far this season.

- Friday's matchup will be the third meeting between MTSU and Butler. The Blue Raiders lead 2-0.
- Coach Bailey-Duvall is 1-0 against the Bulldogs. Coach Bailey-Duvall played tennis at Butler and graduated in 2006. For two seasons after graduation, she was an assistant coach at her alma mater. She would return to her alma mater as the head coach from 2012-18.
Scouting the Bulldogs
- Butler is 2-6 is on the season with the two wins coming against Bowling Green and Cleveland State.
- The Bulldogs return six players from last year's squad. The returners combined for 45 singles wins and 22 doubles wins. They return their No. 1 doubles teams and No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
- Butler welcomes two freshmen to this year's team.

- Sunday's matchup will be the 42nd meeting between MTSU and Vanderbilt. The Commodores lead 37-4.
- Coach Bailey-Duvall is 0-2 against the Commodores.

- Vanderbilt is 5-3 on the season and is ranked No. 13 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
- The Commodores return seven players from last year's squad. The returners combined for 126 singles wins and 110 doubles wins. Vanderbilt welcomes two freshmen to this year's team.
- Sophomore Celia-Belle Mohr is ranked No. 46, freshman Bridget Stammel is ranked No. 53, senior Anna Ross is ranked No. 65, and junior Holly Staff is ranked No. 96. The doubles pairing of Anessa Lee and Celia-Belle Mohr are ranked No. 58 by the ITA.
